The rise and fall of Netscape

I've just been reading about the decline of Netscape Navigator, the browser that brought us cookies, JavaScript and frames, without which much of the internet that we know of today would not be possible.

It's sad to see how what was once the most successful business in it's field was forced out by a large corporation with a monopoly on the delivery platform, and was then later purchased and abandoned by another large corporation that didn't understand the product

Although the guy that made it, Marc Andreeson, is now worth a reported $700million and owns sizable stakes in facebook, twitter, ebay, occulus vr and quite a few other internet giants.
