Ecommerce Shopping Carts Review

I'm shortly going to be publishing a review of shopping cart software, similar to the CSS menus article written recently. At the minute, I'm collecting information about which carts to include in the review, and which carts offer a demo. I will not be including any carts that you have to pay for unless there is an evaluation copy available. There are some great free shopping cart apps about, but I will be focussing on testing whether they support the following:

  1. Support for 3dSecure
  2. Mobile platforms support
  3. Video embedding
  4. Ebay Integration
  5. Amazon integration
  6. Themes - how easy to make and how available they are
  7. Payment providers - at a minimum should support paypal, sagepay, worldpay and paypoint, the biggets payment providers in the UK
  8. Usability - for admin staff to update products, add products and manage order
  9. Inventory tracking from multiple locations or manufacturers
  10. discount codes/gift certificates
  11. Seach Engine Friendly urls
  12. Support options - forum, live assistant, ticket requests etc.
  13. Reporting Tools
  14. Affiliate programs
  15. Simple or one page anonymous checkout option
  16. multi currency

This review is going to take a bit of time, I'm not going to rely on the 'look at our features' list on the developers website, but I am going to test each feature independently.

The review will be online soon. Watch this space...
