Who is looking for me in Sheffield?
Since I moved the scriptsdoctor.com website to be integrated into this website last week, I decided to check the analytics data to see if the queries from google SERPS are being logged correctly. The most common phrase used to find the scriptsdoctor website was javascript isnumber. Not so many results from this week, however I did notice that the most commonly searched phrase was 'Myke Black' - using the power of google analyics, I focused in on the city of origin, and in the last 2 months, 80% of web searches for 'Myke Black' originated from Sheffield. I used to work in Sheffield a few years back so it might be someone I worked with/know, or a company that I worked for previously (maybe Zoo Digital which has offices in sheffield and Los Angeles.)
There were also a couple of referrals from Hull and Grimsby, which is not really surprising since I know a few people in those areas
This just goes to show how powerful google analytics can be, and why we no longer bother with other web stats software like awstats, matrixstats or webtrends. They each have their own strengths and weaknesses, but none of them come close to analytics in terms of cost or features.
