Return of the Google Background Image
I thought we'd seen the last of the background image after the last debarcle last week when many people found it impossible to remove the google background image. However, the link is back on the search page again. This time, they've done it the right way round and not forced a nasty Bingle (or should that be Googing?) mashup of google and bing like front end design.
It still suffers from the same authentication bug, where you click on the link and then an empty white box pops up, and you are redirected to a login page, even though you are already logged in. Needless to say, I and most other people I know will not be using the background image. I wonder how long the link will remain on the home page? I should think there will be a political pressure to have it on there as long as possible so they do not admit to a failed business decision. I think it will probably last longer than the previous effort which was pulled after just 14 hours online.
