Google have posted on their blog a link to a gmail inspired online game. What different about this game is that Galactic Inbox is made entirely using HTML5.

HTML 5 is the new web standard specification that has yet to be fully implimented by all browser vendors -the next version if internet explorer (version 9)  will support it, but if you are using the latest version of firefox or chrome then you can already play the game.

The game itself is ok, but the key delay is a bit annoying and it's difficult to see how you can overcome this using html5. Flash does not have to worry about keyboard repeat delay so it looks like flash based applications are not going to go away because of the release of HTML 5.
