Googles April Fool 2010
Every year, google puts out an april fool joke on unsuspecting punters. This year, its Google Animal Translation - a google phone app to translate animal language. Last year it was Google 3D, and the year before it was . This habit of launching ludicrous sounding april fools jokes backfired on Google in 2004 when on April 1st, they announced that they were offering a free (yes Free!) web based email service, with 1GB storage (which at the time was unheard of). This was the launch of GMail.

- Google Gulp (2009) - a drink supposed to make you more intelligent.
- Google Copernicus (2007) - "Google Copernicus Hosting Environment and Experiment in Search Engineering (G.C.H.E.E.S.E.) is a fully integrated research, development and technology facility" on the moon.
- Google Mentalplex (2000) - a search engine that reads your mind
- CADIE (2009) - an artificial intelligence engine
- Pigeon Rank (2002) - claims search engine rankings are generated by using pigeons instead of humans to analyse data.
- Google Romance (2006) - "soulmate search engine"
- Google Buzz (2010) - not officially released on 1st april, but as a social networking tool, its a joke.
