Google has published it's page speed checker in google labs. This tool allows you to enter a url, and then it checks the page for a variety of factors affecting page speed. I tried it out using the homepage of my site, and it generated a list of recommendations to improve website loading speed. One of the major ones were the google anaytics which was using the old analytics code. I updated this to use asynchronous calls and that improved loading times slightly.
