Google Insight for Search

I have been looking at the beta of Google Insight for Search today researching keyword popularity across time. For those who have never come across it, google insight is like a souped up version of Google Trends, with the added ability of being able to filter trends by country, time frame, category and search type (eg image search, news search etc). This really valuable tool gives great insight on seasonal trends and regional trends that was not possible using the more basic Google Trends. For example, if you look at the trends for weight loss surgery, you see that worldwide, the trend is falling but if you just look at the UK, the trend is actually going up. In the US, the trend is falling slightly, but if you focus on weight loss surgery in Houston, Texas, the trend is upwards. Thats how fine grained your search can be, you can see how many people in the channel islands looked for love last year. Try it for yourself, its a goldmine of interesting and sometimes surprising information.
