Google Honours Robbie Burns

Todays Google Logo is a design inspired by Robert Burns, the Scottish Poet (and writer of Auld Lang Syne), to celebrate Burns Night - the Anniversary of his birth on 25th January 1759. The google logo is a powerful and subtle form of marker, often it is overlooked or the meaning not understood (until you view the alt tag, or click on the logo). The one for today shows a postcard with musical notes on and the works 'like a red red' and then a large rose next to it - alluding to Robbie Burn's poem 'My love is like a red red rose'.

If you are interested in previous google logos, you can view them here, or if you want to buy a t-shirt with the google logos on, you can get them from the Google Doodle Store.
